The Office of Student Affairs and Services (OSAS) is dedicated to fostering a holistic and supportive environment for all students. Its mission is to promote the welfare, development, and success of students by ensuring their well-being and providing access to essential services and opportunities for growth.

Programs

Services, Programs, and Policies

The OSAS operates through a variety of services and programs designed to support the student body. This information is grouped into categories for easy reference.

Student Development and Support

  • Freshmen Orientation Program Helps new students transition into college life, familiarize themselves with the campus, its resources, and the college's policies and procedures.
  • Student Organizations and Publications Oversees accreditation, registration, and supervision of recognized student organizations (CSG, fraternities, sororities, clubs) and college publications.
  • Student Assistantship Program Provides on-campus work opportunities for valuable experience and financial support.
  • Student Government Elections Supervises elections for student governments and facilitates proclamation of winners.
  • Co-curricular and Extra-curricular Activities Facilitates field trips, school events, and cultural programs that complement the academic curriculum.
  • Policy Making The Dean participates in policy-making activities concerning student welfare and interests.

Guidance, Counseling, and Career Services

  • Guidance and Counseling Individual counseling, group sessions, and crisis intervention through coordination with School Deans and faculty.
  • Testing and Placement Programs to help students understand strengths and aptitudes for academic and career choices.
  • Tracer Studies and Research Research and tracer studies to gather feedback on graduate quality and improve programs.
  • In-service Training Training for school personnel to enhance guidance and counseling skills.

Academic Support and Records

  • Library Services Access to resources supporting instruction, research, and extension; coordinated by the College Librarian with updated inventories and graduate theses.
  • Scholarship and Financial Assistance Manages UniFAST scholarship and grant programs including TES, ESGPPA, TDS, OWWA, and Foundation Scholarships.
  • Scholarship Duties Maintains donor relationships, prepares agreements, coordinates applications, and awards scholarships to qualified students.

Sports, Arts, and Culture

  • Physical Education and Sports Science Plans, implements, and supervises athletic programs aligned with regional and national sports objectives.
  • Athlete Selection and Equipment Identifies prospective athletes and prepares policies on sports equipment utilization.
  • Culture and Arts Office Projects the College image through cultural activities, tie-ups, exchanges, and performing groups.

Conduct, Discipline, and Safety

  • Disciplinary Procedures The Dean supervises and implements disciplinary procedures per College rules approved by the Board of Trustees.
  • Harmonious Relationships Fosters professional relations between faculty, staff, and students for a conducive learning environment.
  • Identification (ID) Policy All students must wear Sulu State College ID visibly. Lost IDs require OSAS application; lending/borrowing IDs is prohibited.
  • Dress Code and Prohibited Items Proper uniform and grooming required. Firearms, weapons, explosives, and illegal drugs are strictly prohibited.

Health and Well-being

  • Health Services The School Clinic provides medical assistance to students and personnel for remedial health measures.
  • Excuse Slips and Medical Certificates Ill students must obtain excuse slips from the College Health Service Center; absences of five days or more require a medical certificate.
