Library Services

The Sulu State College Library is the central resource hub supporting the instructional, research, and extension programs of the College. We are committed to providing quality library services to students, faculty, researchers, and staff.

Access to Learning Resources

The library provides access to a wide range of books, journals, periodicals, and other learning materials to support the academic programs of the College.

Theses and Dissertations

The library houses copies of theses, feasibility studies, and dissertations submitted by undergraduate and graduate students for reference and research purposes.

Coordination with Unit Libraries

The College Librarian coordinates with unit librarians across campuses to monitor and maintain the quality of library services for all users.

Collection Development

The library continuously plans programs for the growth and maintenance of its collection through purchases, gifts, and donations.

The library implements approved policies and regulations to maximize the utilization of library resources.

Library policies

  • All library users are expected to observe proper conduct and respect library materials and facilities.
  • Borrowing privileges are extended to currently enrolled students, faculty, and staff upon presentation of a valid SSC ID.
  • Reference materials, theses, and dissertations are for in-library use only unless otherwise permitted.

Organization

College Librarian

The library shall be headed by the College Librarian whose appointment shall be confirmed by the BOT upon the recommendation of the President. The library shall be furnished with copies of theses, feasibility studies and dissertations submitted by undergraduate and graduate students.

Functions of the College Librarian:

  1. Exercise custody of materials acquired by the College to support its instructional, research, and extension programs.
  2. Safeguard and oversee library materials deposited in the main library and other unit libraries.
  3. Coordinate with the unit librarians on a regular basis to monitor quality of library services rendered to the students, faculty and other library users.
  4. Prepare the budget for the library and manage the disbursement of library funds.
  5. Recommend the acquisition of library materials, supplies and equipment through purchase from library funds or through gifts and donations.
  6. Recommend and implement approved policies, rules and regulations to maximize utilization of library resources.
  7. Plan programs for the growth and maintenance of library collection.
  8. Submit annual report of library activities and updated inventories of library holdings to the President.
  9. Perform such other duties as may be assigned by higher authority.
