Sulu State University proudly joins the Commission on Higher Education(CHED) , the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA), and the entire nation in the observance of National Indigenous Peoples Month this October and the celebration of Dayaw 2026.

With the theme, “Pagkamalikhain ng Katutubong Filipino: Pinagtibay ng mga Pagsubok, Umaalab ang Bagong Pag-Asa,” this year’s celebration honors the creativity, resilience, cultural identity, indigenous knowledge, and enduring traditions of Indigenous Peoples and cultural communities across the country.

As a university deeply rooted in the rich cultural heritage of Sulu, SuluSU recognizes the importance of education in preserving identity, strengthening respect for cultural diversity, and ensuring that indigenous knowledge and traditions continue to inspire future generations.

May this celebration deepen our appreciation of the communities whose knowledge, artistry, traditions, and stories form an invaluable part of our shared Filipino heritage.
Pagpupugay sa kultura, pagkakakilanlan, at katutubong karunungan ng sambayanang Pilipino!
