Sulu State University (SuluSU) officially received its newly completed Alumni Building through a ceremonial turnover, acceptance, and ribbon-cutting ceremony held on July 27, 2026, at the Sulu State University.
The program commenced with an invocation led by Mr. Athram Igasan, followed by the opening remarks delivered by Prof. Nelson U. Julhamid, PhD, Vice President for Administration and Finance Management, on behalf of the University President, Prof. Charisma S. Ututalum, CESE.
During the event, the University presented an overview of the project, highlighting the successful completion of the Construction of the Multipurpose Building, now officially designated as the Alumni Building. The project was made possible through the invaluable support of Honorable Member of Parliament Adzfar H. Usman under the Transitory Development Impact Fund (TDIF) 2025 and was implemented by the Ministry of Public Works–Sulu, headed by Engr. Ajan S. Ajijul, with a total project cost of ₱6,200,000.00.
Construction of the one-storey facility commenced in October 2025 and was successfully completed in July 2026. The newly turned-over building will serve as the permanent home of the Sulu State University Alumni Office, providing a dedicated venue for alumni programs, services, meetings, and activities while fostering stronger collaboration between the University and its growing community of graduates.
In his message, Hon. MP Adzfar H. Usman reaffirmed his commitment to supporting educational initiatives and infrastructure projects that contribute to the holistic development of Sulu State University and the communities it serves. Meanwhile, Engr. Ajan S. Ajijul acknowledged the collaborative efforts of all stakeholders that led to the successful implementation and timely completion of the project.
A highlight of the ceremony was the presentation of Plaques of Appreciation, where the University conveyed its heartfelt gratitude to Hon. MP Adzfar H. Usman, the Ministry of Public Works–Sulu headed by Engr. Ajan S. Ajijul, and all partner agencies and individuals whose unwavering support and commitment made the realization of the Alumni Building possible. Their invaluable contributions continue to strengthen the University's vision of providing quality facilities that benefit present and future generations of SuluSU alumni and stakeholders.
