Sulu State University proudly congratulates Hon. Shirley C. Agrupis, Ph.D., Chairperson of the Commission on Higher Education (CHED), on her historic recognition as the First Adopted Daughter of the Province of Sulu.
The conferment ceremony was held by the Provincial Government of Sulu, led by Governor Abdusakur “Toto” Tan II, Vice Governor Abdusakur M. Tan, and the Sangguniang Panlalawigan Officials. Through this recognition, the Province formally welcomed Chairperson Agrupis into the Sulu family and acknowledged her commitment to the advancement of higher education and the development of Sulu.
Sulu State University held a welcome reception in her honor on August 14, 2026, together with University officials and the SuluSU community.
The conferment was also graced by Hon. Samier A. Tan, Representative of the 1st District of Sulu, who hosted a welcome lunch for Chairperson Agrupis, adding warmth and significance to the celebration.
Together, these two events symbolize a stronger bond among Chairperson Agrupis, the Provincial Government of Sulu, and Sulu State University united by a shared commitment to education, service, and greater opportunities for the people of Sulu.
