Sulu State University (SuluSU) reaffirmed its commitment to advancing quality healthcare education as University President Prof. Charisma S. Ututalum, CESE, joined the Philippine Nurses Association (PNA) – Sulu Chapter during the Dialogue with the Professional Regulation Commission – Board of Nursing (PRC-BON) on July 20, 2026 held at the Sulu State University Center for Culture and Arts.
Centered on the theme, “Bridging Professional Standards and Nursing Practice Towards Quality Healthcare,” the event gathered nursing professionals and educators to discuss current nursing standards, professional practice, and collaborative initiatives aimed at strengthening healthcare delivery in the province.
Representing the University, Prof. Charisma S. Ututalum, CESE delivered the Message of Support, emphasizing the vital role of collaboration between higher education institutions, professional organizations, and regulatory bodies in nurturing competent, ethical, and globally competitive nursing professionals. She underscored Sulu State University's unwavering commitment to producing graduates who embody excellence, compassion, and integrity in service to the community.
The program officially opened with welcome remarks followed by the acknowledgment of the distinguished members of the PRC Board of Nursing led by Hon. Leah Primitiva G. Samaco-Paquiz, Chairperson, together with Board Members Hon. Elsie A. Tee, Hon. Merle L. Salvani, Hon. Zenaida C. Gagno, Hon. Josefina A. Tuazon, Hon. Mila Delia M. Llanes, and Hon. Mary Grace C. Lacanaria. The event also featured a presentation and dialogue, an open forum, and the presentation of plaques of appreciation, providing participants with an opportunity to engage directly with the country's nursing regulatory leaders.
The dialogue highlighted the importance of strengthening professional standards, promoting lifelong learning, and fostering partnerships that contribute to quality healthcare services and excellence in the nursing profession.
