The Admission and Testing Office under the Office of Students Affairs and Services conducted an orientation for the enrolled students and parents of the TAYTAYAN: SSU Bridging Program on June 24, 2026 at Multimedia Center.
The orientation aimed to inform the students and their parents about the objectives, guidelines, policies, and expectations of the TAYTAYAN Program, a college readiness initiative designed for applicants who wish to enroll in Sulu State University but did not meet the required Percentile Rank for admission to non-board programs.
The activity was hosted by Ms. Fatima Edzra Akmad-Salasa, who served as the Master of Ceremony and facilitated the flow of the program.
During the activity, the objectives of the program were discussed, emphasizing SSUโs commitment to provide inclusive access to higher education while maintaining academic quality. The policies of the program were also presented, including attendance requirements, completion standards, conduct expectations, and the reminder that enrollment in TAYTAYAN does not automatically guarantee admission to the University.
The program formally opened with a message from Engr. Firash Zhed S. Ututalum, Dean of the Office of Student Affairs and Services, who expressed support for the initiative and highlighted the importance of preparing students for college life with discipline, commitment, and readiness.
This was followed by the introduction of the TAYTAYAN Team by Ms. Nuryanina Suhaili, who presented the faculty facilitators and personnel involved in the implementation of the program.
The orientation proper was then conducted by Ms. Fhadzra Aisha P. Sabdani, RPM, MASS, Head of the Admission and Testing Office. She discussed the rationale of the program, the learning areas, program flow, student responsibilities, attendance policy, assessment process, and admission reminders. She also emphasized that the program is intended only for eligible non-board programs and that students must complete the requirements and pass all subject courses before they may be considered for admission.
An open forum was conducted after the orientation proper, allowing parents and students to raise questions and clarifications regarding the implementation of the program, attendance rules, admission process, and completion requirements.
The activity concluded with a reminder to the students to take the opportunity seriously and to regard TAYTAYAN as a bridge toward college readiness, responsibility, and academic growth.
