Sulu State University (SuluSU), through its Data Privacy Office, conducted the Strengthening Data Privacy Compliance: Annual Awareness Seminar on July 30, 2026, at the Center for Culture and Arts, reaffirming the University's commitment to safeguarding personal information and promoting a culture of data privacy among its stakeholders.
The program commenced with registration, followed by the invocation, the singing of the Philippine National Anthem, and the SSU Hymn. University President Prof. Charisma S. Ututalum, CESE delivered the welcome message, emphasizing the importance of responsible data management and privacy protection in fostering transparency, accountability, and public trust within the institution.
The seminar proper was facilitated by Asst. Prof. Safrazhad Akarab, Data Privacy Officer, together with Mr. Nadzrin Abdulajid, Planning Officer III. The discussions focused on strengthening awareness of data privacy principles, institutional compliance, and the responsibilities of university personnel under the Data Privacy Act of 2012 (Republic Act No. 10173).
